A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I won't be completely let down if it doesn’t, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The single blends a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The group managing the project have clarified that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a representative explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was noted for its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
