The President Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

White House Offer

The president said he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged people around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The incident prompted the government to halt asylum processing and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had bravery,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
