Star Rejects Anti-Vax Views Following Lending His Voice To Controversial Pandemic Feature
The acclaimed actor has given his voice to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and praises one-time government figure the political figure.
The Documentary's Contentious Basis
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a well-known publication written by a disgraced researcher, who rose to infamy during the pandemic for allegations that the illness was caused by a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The book's co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has penned books with controversial figure a known commentator. He wrote online praising Neeson's role in the project.
An Unequivocal Denial
Representatives for Neeson have released a statement pushing back against claims that he supports anti-immunization sentiments.
"Everyone can understand that misconduct might be present within the drug industry, but that must not be conflated with being against vaccines," the comment reads. "Neeson has never been, and is not, anti-vax. His considerable work with the UN children's agency underscores his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The statement continued that the star had no hand in the documentary's editorial content and that inquiries about its claims are best addressed to the producers.
Major Claims Featured in the Feature
As presented, the voiceover provided by Neeson makes several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "blind obedience" to health authorities.
- It argues that "science has become highly politicised."
- Kennedy is featured saying, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not adequately tested."
- The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, saying they caused mental anguish that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning the immunizations, it references a perspective that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "risky trials."
Past Controversy and Ongoing Issues
The film further cites a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a formal apology by the corporation for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, RFK Jr called on the CDC to revise its official position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism spectrum disorder. This claim is echoed in the film, despite a new report from the WHO confirming no evidence has been found.
A Previous Statement of Support
Standing in contrast to the film's narrative, Neeson has in the past expressed strong support for vaccines in his role as a charity ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible human success story," adding that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
The film finishes with Neeson's narration saying, "This isn't the end of our narrative. This is the beginning of a new chapter."
