Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
