Fresh Details Come to Light About the Location of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light regarding the untimely demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
A source indicates referencing a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session initially became concerned after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source also disputed several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
The source also pushed back against circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "worried" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction also extends to descriptions of alleged "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
