Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
