Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Ivy League School Shooting as Police Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who died in the recent mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – while an intensive search for their assailant continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” his sibling Samira said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “We know that this is likely to cause renewed concern for our community”.

The assailant began shooting inside a classroom in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the Associated Press.

Police that entered the inn seized two firearms and magazines when the suspect was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in Durham, North Carolina, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Additional Memorials

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, loved ones, and peers and grieve for of his promising future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about thousands of bachelor's and three thousand graduate students, took place amid one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in this year, according to records. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
