This past Friday, just moments following a US appeals court ruled that the White House must pay for nutritional assistance benefits, the administration sought intervention from the nation's highest court in a further effort to block the ruling.
Not long after, the highest court handed down an emergency order immediately suspending complete food stamp benefits, which nearly 42 hundred thousand individuals rely on to feed their families.
“Government lawyers persist in working, day and night, to protect and further our agenda,” the top legal officer declared on online platforms around 9:30pm local time.
White House staff had requested the US appeals court to overturn a judge's order that it issue the upcoming complete nutritional benefits amid a government funding lapse, and faced refusal later the same day.
